Support and Update Policy

Nerd Artisan Piano Tuner is an independent project developed and maintained by a single person. I intend to keep improving and maintaining the app for as long as it is reasonably sustainable for me to do so, but I believe it is important to be transparent about what users should and should not expect.

Support

If you encounter a bug, compatibility issue, purchase-related problem, or have a question about how the app works, you are welcome to contact me through the support channels indicated on this website or on the Google Play Store page.

I will make a reasonable effort to read support requests and help when possible. However, since this is a one-person project, I cannot guarantee:

Reports that include a clear description of the problem, the device model, Android version, and the circumstances in which the problem occurs are particularly helpful.

Updates

There is no guaranteed update schedule.

Updates may include bug fixes, compatibility improvements, changes required by Android or Google Play, improvements to existing functions, or new features.

The frequency and scope of updates will depend on factors such as:

Some periods may therefore see frequent development, while at other times the app may remain unchanged for a long period.

Purchasing Pro does not constitute a promise that specific future features will be added.

Android and device compatibility

I will try to maintain compatibility with reasonably current Android devices whenever practical. However, operating systems, Google Play requirements, device hardware and third-party software change over time.

For this reason, I cannot guarantee that the app will remain compatible indefinitely with:

An update to Android, Google Play or another component outside my control may occasionally make changes to the app necessary. In some cases, maintaining compatibility may become technically impractical or disproportionately expensive.

Availability of the app

I currently intend to keep Nerd Artisan Piano Tuner available and maintained for as long as the project remains reasonably sustainable.

However, I cannot guarantee that the app will remain available on Google Play indefinitely.

The project may eventually be discontinued for economic, technical, personal, regulatory, or other practical reasons. For example, continued maintenance might become unsustainable if the app has very few users, if maintenance requirements increase significantly, or if changes to Android or Google Play make continued distribution impractical.

If discontinuation ever becomes necessary, I will make a reasonable effort, where circumstances allow, to communicate this clearly to users in advance. However, this should not be understood as a guarantee that advance notice will always be possible.

Subscriptions

Monthly and annual Pro subscriptions provide access to Pro features while the subscription is active and while the app remains available and compatible with the user’s device.

Choosing a subscription can be a good option for users who prefer to pay for the app only while they are actively using and supporting the project.

A subscription should not be interpreted as a guarantee that the app will continue to exist or receive updates for any particular number of years.

Lifetime Unlock

The Lifetime Unlock is a one-time purchase that does not automatically expire.

The word “Lifetime” refers to the non-expiring nature of the Pro unlock itself. It does not mean that the app, its development, Google Play availability, compatibility with future devices or compatibility with future Android versions is guaranteed for the lifetime of the purchaser.

In particular, purchasing the Lifetime Unlock does not guarantee:

I will make the same reasonable effort to maintain the app for Lifetime Unlock users as for subscription users. The distinction concerns the payment model, not the level of support or the priority given to users.

Because a one-time purchase necessarily involves greater uncertainty about the distant future, users who consider long-term continuity essential may prefer a monthly or annual subscription instead.

Users who purchase the Lifetime Unlock may also wish to keep a compatible device on which the app is already installed, particularly if they expect to rely on the app for many years.

No planned obsolescence

I will not intentionally stop supporting an otherwise maintainable version of the app simply in order to force users to purchase it again.

If a future major redesign, technical migration, or entirely separate product ever requires a different commercial model, I will try to treat existing users reasonably and communicate any relevant changes clearly.

Sustainability of the project

Nerd Artisan Piano Tuner is a very small independent project rather than a service operated by a large company.

The app has ongoing costs and requires significant development and maintenance time. At this stage, I cannot know whether it will ultimately generate a profit or a loss.

My intention is nevertheless to keep the project alive even at a relatively modest level of income. To give users a concrete idea, revenue of around €1,000 per year would already provide me with meaningful motivation to continue maintaining and improving the app.

This is not a financial target or a promise of continued operation; it is simply intended to give some context about the scale and nature of the project.

Changes to this policy

This Support and Update Policy may be updated in the future as the app, its distribution model, or the circumstances of the project change.
